In June, our team traveled to Groningen, Netherlands, to take part in the EPF European Polymer Congress, where we had the opportunity to meet members of the Polymer Science community. Hosted by the European Polymer Federation (EPF), the Royal Netherlands Chemical Society (KNCV), Polymeer Technologie Nederland (PTN), and the University of Groningen, the focus of the conference this year was on sustainability.
Our team showcased Swabian Instruments’ latest product for Dynamic Light Scattering, the DLScat. We enjoyed learning about exciting research applications in macromolecular chemistry, polymer physics, polymer reaction engineering, and rheology and processing.
Swabian Instruments’ new Dynamic Light Scattering (DLS) system, the DLScat, is a turnkey solution built around the Time Tagger 20, which serves as a high-performance, multi-angle correlator. The DLScat enables real-time evaluation of samples at up to five simultaneous scattering angles, with each photon detection streamed directly to a PC for live intensity visualization and advanced analysis. A built-in filtering feature helps eliminate intensity spikes from unwanted aggregates or dust, helping to ensure clean, reliable data. Due to its flexible software architecture, users can access raw data from all angles, fine-tune analysis parameters, and take full advantage of the powerful post-processing tools.
As part of the DLScat’s launch phase, we’re looking to partner with researchers interested in evaluating these unique features within their experiments. We aim to understand if/how the DLScat can add value to your work and gather insights to guide future improvements. If you’re interested in learning further, please contact dls@swabianinstruments.com. We’d love to hear from you!
The EPF conference offered a fantastic opportunity to engage with the polymer science community and gain insights into the typical scope and measurement challenges of these experiments. The conference showcased upwards of 500 speakers and 300 poster presentations, resulting in an insightful experience to learn about cutting-edge work in the field. These presentations covered various topics from applications in food, environmental sustainability and recycling, and manufacturing.
Our team enjoyed exploring the city of Groningen, seeing landmarks such as the historic Martinitower and Forum!
The Swabian Instruments team was thrilled to attend the European Polymer Congress (EPF) Conference this past June. We had very insightful discussions, learned a lot about the experimental needs and requirements of polymer researchers, and got some great feedback on the DLScat development! We are looking forward to the 2027 conference.
Dynamic light scattering (DLS) is an optical analysis method for particle sizes in solutions. It is a well-established method in many areas that focus on nanoparticles, such as colloid and polymer science, pharma and food industries, and cosmetic and paint product development.
